Replayar Privacy Policy
How Replayar collects, uses, shares, and protects your information when you use our augmented-reality app and Creator Portal.
The short version. Replayar anchors memories and collectibles to real-world places, so the app uses your precise location and your device camera while you play.
Some information is public by design: your Playars Club leaderboard entry (display name, country, profile photo, rank and score) and any augmented-reality content you place in the world.
We do not sell your personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. You can delete your account and data from inside the app at any time.
This summary is for convenience only — the full policy below is what governs.

1. Who we are & scope
Replayar Inc., a Delaware corporation based in California ("Replayar", "we", "us", or "our"), operates the Replayar mobile application, the Replayar Creator Portal, and the websites at replayar.com (together, the "Service"). Replayar is an augmented-reality ("AR") app that geographically anchors personal memories and collectibles to real-world locations and lets users build a shared community of places and history.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to the app, the Creator Portal, and our websites. By using the Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. Capitalized terms not defined here have the meaning given in our End-User License Agreement & Terms of Service.
For the purposes of the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation, Replayar Inc. is the controller of your personal data. We may engage processors (service providers) to process data on our behalf, as described below.
2. Information we collect
Information you provide to us
- Account & profile. Email address, display name / nickname, and a profile photo you choose to upload.
- Creator Portal sign-in. If you sign in to the Creator Portal with Google, we receive your Google account email address, name, and a profile identifier from Google. We never receive your Google password.
- User-generated content ("UGC"). Images you upload, together with any title, description, links, and the real-world map location you assign to them. Background removal of your image runs on your device in your browser; we receive the processed image you choose to submit, not a raw camera feed.
- Marketing & opt-in forms. Email address and any details you submit when you opt in to updates, "hero" or community features, contests, or events.
- Purchases & subscriptions. If you subscribe to ReplayarPRO or buy other items, the transaction is processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play. We receive confirmation, subscription status, and transaction identifiers — we do not receive or store your full payment-card number.
- Communications. The content of messages you send us (for example, support emails to info@replayar.com) and our responses.
Information collected automatically
- Device & technical data. Device model, operating system and version, app version, language and region, mobile network/carrier, IP address, device identifiers, and advertising identifiers.
- Usage & diagnostics. In-app activity such as content viewed and collected, sessions and feature use, ad interactions, performance metrics, and crash logs/diagnostics used to detect and fix problems.
- Website data & cookies. On our websites we use cookies and similar technologies (including session, preference, and security cookies) and analytics providers (for example, StatCounter) to understand and improve the site. You can manage cookies through your browser; some site features may not work without them.
Advertising (free version)
The free version of the app is supported by advertising served through Google AdMob (the Google Mobile Ads SDK), which displays full-screen interstitial ads and optional rewarded video ads you can choose to watch; ReplayarPRO subscribers do not see interstitial ads. Google and its advertising partners may use device and advertising identifiers, IP address, and information about your use of the app to serve, frequency-cap, and measure ads, including, where permitted, personalized (interest-based) ads. Google's use of this information is described in "How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services". Whether you see personalized (interest-based) ads depends on your device and account settings and on applicable law. You can limit ad tracking, reset or delete your advertising identifier, and opt out of ads personalization in your device settings (on iOS, under Privacy & Security; on Android, under Privacy and Ads), and through Google's controls linked above. Where your region requires consent for personalized advertising, please use these controls to set your preference; we are continuing to develop in-app consent and tracking-preference tools as the Service grows. Subscribing to ReplayarPRO removes interstitial ads. See "Your choices & rights" and "California privacy rights" below.
Analytics & SDKs in the app
The app includes software-development kits ("SDKs") from service providers that collect device, usage, and diagnostic data on our behalf, including Microsoft PlayFab, Google Firebase (analytics, crash reporting, and push messaging), and Unity Technologies (gaming and analytics services). See "How we share information" for more.
3. Location, camera & AR data
Precise location data (sensitive)
With your permission, we collect and use your device's precise GPS location while the app is in use. Location is fundamental to the Service: it is how we place and surface AR content near you and how we derive the country shown on the Playars Club leaderboard. Without location permission the app cannot function as intended. You can grant or revoke location access at any time in your device settings.
Camera & augmented-reality data
With your permission, the app uses your device camera to render the live AR view and, for certain "Visually Assisted Spawning" experiences, to recognize a reference scene or image so content can be anchored in place. Camera imagery is processed on your device to render AR. We do not use the camera for facial recognition or biometric identification, and we do not collect, transmit, or store your camera feed — except for images you deliberately capture and submit as UGC.
Push notifications
If you enable notifications, we may send you alerts about activity, events, or updates. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings.
4. How we use information
- Provide, operate, secure, and maintain the Service and your account.
- Place, discover, and display AR content based on your location.
- Operate the Playars Club leaderboard and community features.
- Process purchases and manage virtual items and currency.
- Review, moderate, and scan UGC and account content to operate community features, keep the Service safe, and enforce our terms.
- Provide customer support and respond to your requests.
- Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, security incidents, and technical issues.
- Analyze usage to understand, troubleshoot, and improve the Service.
- Send you service messages and, where permitted, marketing communications you can opt out of.
- Comply with law and enforce our legal rights and agreements.
5. Legal bases for processing (EEA/UK)
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we may rely on the following legal bases, depending on the data and context:
- Performance of a contract — to provide the Service you request.
- Consent — for precise location, camera access, push notifications, and marketing; you may withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests — to secure and improve the Service, prevent abuse, and operate community features, where not overridden by your rights.
- Legal obligation — to comply with applicable law.
We do not make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you based solely on automated processing. We carry out limited profiling for advertising (interest-based ads in the free version), which you can control as described in "Location, camera & AR data → Advertising" and "Your choices & rights." Replayar Inc. is the controller; see "Contact us" for how to reach us, our current Article 27 representative status, and your right to lodge a complaint.
7. Public & community content
Replayar is a shared, location-based experience. The following are visible to other users by design: your Playars Club leaderboard entry (display name, country, profile photo, and rank/score) and any AR content you publish, including its real-world location. Approved AR content may persist in the world and may be cached on other users' devices until it is reconciled or removed. Please do not include anything in your profile, display name, or UGC that you would not want to be public.
8. International data transfers
Replayar Inc. is based in the United States, and the Service and its data are hosted and processed in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States — including from the EEA, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland — you understand that your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, where data-protection laws differ from, and may be less protective than, those in your jurisdiction, and you consent to that transfer where consent is the applicable basis. Our major service providers (for example, Google and Microsoft) make their own international data-transfer safeguards available for the processing they perform on our behalf. As the Service grows we may put additional transfer safeguards in place and will update this Policy accordingly. You can contact us at info@replayar.com with questions about international transfers.
9. Data retention
We retain personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy. In general:
- Account & profile data — until you delete your account, plus a limited period in backups and for legal, dispute-resolution, and fraud-prevention purposes.
- UGC — until you or we remove it; note that approved AR content may persist in the world and in other users' device caches until reconciled.
- Logs, diagnostics, and analytics — for a shorter period, unless needed longer for security or to meet a legal obligation.
We may retain information longer where required by law or to enforce our agreements, and we will preserve data subject to a legal hold.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information, including processing image background-removal on your device to limit exposure of raw images. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Your choices & rights
- Delete your account and data in the app. Open Settings → Delete Account in the Replayar app to permanently delete your account and associated personal data. You can also email info@replayar.com for help.
- Device permissions. Control location, camera, and notification access at any time in your device settings.
- Marketing opt-out. Use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email or contact us.
- Advertising choices. Opt out of personalized ads and reset or limit your advertising identifier in your device settings; on iOS, decline tracking at the App Tracking Transparency prompt. You can also opt out of "sale"/"sharing"/targeted advertising by emailing info@replayar.com or using any in-app privacy control, and we honor Global Privacy Control. Subscribing to ReplayarPRO removes ads.
- Access, correction, deletion, and portability. You may request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a portable copy of your personal data.
- Object / restrict / withdraw consent. Where applicable, you may object to or request restriction of processing and withdraw consent (this will not affect processing already carried out).
- EEA/UK/Swiss users. You have the rights above and the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
12. California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, gives you specific rights.
Categories of personal information we collect: identifiers (e.g., name, email, device IDs, IP address); customer records; commercial information (purchases/virtual items); internet or other electronic network activity (app and site usage); precise geolocation (sensitive personal information); audio/visual information (photos and UGC you submit); and inferences drawn from the above. We collect this from you and automatically from your device and our service providers, for the business purposes described in Section 4.
Sale/sharing and sensitive information. We do not sell personal information for money. Because the free version serves ads, our use of third-party advertising partners may constitute "selling" or "sharing" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising under the CCPA. You have the right to opt out of this sale/sharing: email info@replayar.com, use any in-app privacy control, or send a Global Privacy Control signal, which we honor. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16 without the opt-in consent required by the CCPA. We use and disclose sensitive personal information (precise geolocation) only to provide the Service — a purpose for which the "limit the use of my sensitive personal information" right does not apply.
Your rights: to know/access the personal information we collect; to delete it; to correct inaccurate information; to opt out of sale/sharing (not applicable, as we do not sell or share); and not to receive discriminatory treatment for exercising these rights. To exercise these rights, use the in-app deletion tool or email info@replayar.com. You may use an authorized agent, and we may verify your identity and the agent's authority. We honor recognized opt-out preference signals, including Global Privacy Control, where required by law.
13. Other U.S. state privacy rights
If you are a resident of a U.S. state with a comprehensive consumer-privacy law in effect (including, as applicable, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Montana, Florida, and other states whose laws are in effect as of the date above), you have rights to confirm whether we process your personal data and to access, correct, delete, and obtain a portable copy of it, and to opt out of targeted advertising, the sale of personal data, and certain profiling. Because the free version serves ads, we may engage in "targeted advertising" and a "sale" of personal data as defined by these laws; you may opt out by emailing info@replayar.com, using any in-app privacy control, or sending a Global Privacy Control signal. To exercise your rights, use the in-app deletion tool or email info@replayar.com. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our response or emailing info@replayar.com with "Privacy Appeal" in the subject line; if your appeal is denied, you may contact your state Attorney General.
14. Children's privacy
The Service is intended for users 13 years of age or older and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has provided us with personal information, contact info@replayar.com and we will take steps to delete it. If you are between 13 and 17, please review this policy with a parent or guardian. We may further restrict access based on applicable app-store age ratings and local law. We do not knowingly use the personal information of users under 16 for targeted advertising, or sell or share it, without the consent required by law.
15. Do Not Track & opt-out preference signals
Because there is no common industry standard for "Do Not Track" browser signals, our websites do not respond to DNT. However, where required by law, we treat recognized opt-out preference signals (such as Global Privacy Control) as a valid request to opt out of sale/sharing for the associated browser or device.
16. Third-party links & services
The Service may link to or integrate third-party sites and services that we do not control. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices. Please review the privacy policy of any third party before providing information to it.
17. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy here and revise the "effective" date above. For material changes, we will provide a more prominent notice and/or notify you by email before the change takes effect. Your continued use of the Service after an update becomes effective constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
18. Contact us
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or wish to exercise your rights, contact us:
